|Steve has over 40 years experience in the construction industry at both project and company board level and is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building and an eminent member of RICS.
In 1998 Steve headed a management buy-in at Midas Group Limited. As Chief Executive and Chairman, Steve has transformed Midas from a small regionally based contractor to a property services group operating throughout the UK and in all property sectors.
|Steve is Chairman of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership, the organisation tasked with promoting economic growth and development in Devon and Somerset by combining the efforts of Public Authorities and the Private Sector in the area.
He is also Chairman of Constructing Excellence South West Leadership Council who exist to improve industry performance in order to produce a better built environment. They are a cross-sector, cross-supply chain, member led organisation operating for the good of industry and its stakeholders.
He is Chairman for the Devon Community Foundation, a grant-making charity helping to support charities and voluntary and community groups in Devon and a trustee of the Children’s Hospice South West, who provide hospice care for children and their families across the South West of England.
He is former Chair of the CBI Construction Council and of the CBI South West Council – he is a member of both. The CBI’s Construction Council identifies and addresses issues specific to construction and provides a voice for construction, contracting, civil engineering, materials, house building, design and support services to influence mainstream CBI policy and Government.
Steve was awarded the CBE in the 2006 New Years Honours List for services to the Construction Industry; appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Devon in 2009 and had an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering conferred upon him by Exeter University in 2011.
Steve is married with two daughters and in his spare time likes classic cars, to walk, sail and read.
