CE Devon – Site Visit to Derriford Hospital Emergency Care Building – 6 February 2026

MWD (Mace Willmott Dixon) under the Procure 23 (P23) programme have been instructed to build the new Derriford Hospital Emergency Care Building. This 16,500m² facility is designed to replace the existing Emergency Department, improving capacity and efficiency to meet the growing demand for urgent care services in the region. The project includes multiple specialised areas, such as a ground floor for rapid assessment and diagnostic imaging, a second floor dedicated to same day emergency care, and a third floor featuring advanced theatres for neurosurgery, stroke treatment, and interventional radiology. Additionally, a fourth floor will house five new theatres to support both emergency and planned surgeries. This project consists of 6 floors, 4 floors of healthcare accommodation, RC in-situ concrete frame, link bridge to the existing hospital, external cladding system, a blue roof and associated externals and drainage.
