Constructing Excellence Bristol Club [CEBC] is a regional hub of the Constructing Excellence South West and national Constructing Excellence group, which is delivered with BRE.
The club was formed was formed in 1999 and is a recognised and respected platform for industry improvement which aims to deliver excellence for clients, industry and users through collaborative working.
CEBC reflects the aims and values of our national parent organisation and brings together stakeholders from across the construction sector to network together and educate each other.
CEBC is run by a committee of volunteer members from prominent organisations across the industry within the city who, like our membership, represent the full spectrum of stakeholders in the construction sector, from clients, developers, educational providers, professionals, main contractors, specialist sub-contractors and suppliers.
The club has always been one of the most active Constructing Excellence clubs, running a varied programme of events every year including our highly-valued Here-to-Learn [HTL] workshop/seminars, our Autumn Seminar and our AGM conference.
These events are organised to share best practice in the key issues of the day and to assist our members in remaining at the cutting edge. These learning events are supplemented by a several social and value-sharing events such as our annual sailing day [Little Bristol], InPlay Golf evenings, our fundraising 5-aside football tournament and various events with partner organisations in the city such as Women in Property and Forum for the Built Environment.

David Arnold, Burges Salmon - Chair
David Arnold is a dispute resolution lawyer working within the firms’ Construction and Engineering Contract Management and Dispute Resolution team. He has successfully acted on behalf of clients in a wide range of disputes and have experience of achieving resolution through litigation, adjudication and mediation. David regularly advise government departments, local authorities, housing associations, educational institutions, developers, professional consultants, commercial contractors and insurers on their legal position and how best to achieve their objectives.
David has experience in resolving disputes involving the major standard forms of contract, such as the JCT and NEC, as well as PFI contracts, together with pursuing and defending professional negligence cases involving construction consultants.
The past few years has seen a particular focus on fire safety issues, and he has assisted clients from all levels of the supply chain in resolving disputes arising from these issues.
David also has experience of advising on non-contentious construction issues, including advice on development agreements, agreements for leases, construction contracts, consultant appointments and collateral warranties and dealing with insolvent contractors.
Emma Pritchett, Gallagher - Vice Chair
Development Director for Gallagher in Bristol & Vice Chair for CESW Bristol Club.
Based in Bristol, Emma has over 21 years insurance industry experience. During this time Emma has a passion for providing consultative risk and insurance solutions to clients within the Construction and Real Estate industry. Emma is responsible for heading up sales for the Bristol area for Gallagher, leading a team of development executives and project managers.
Working for a Global Broker means Emma can seek global insurance placement solutions, advising clients on their insurance programmes and providing them with comprehensive audits in order to mitigate their risk. During her many years working in the insurance industry, Emma has built up a strong network in the construction and real estate sector and has a passion for strategically seeking out new opportunities. In addition to this Emma and her team also have experience in providing risk and insurance solutions to a broader range of business sectors.
Emma McCartney, Foot Anstey Solicitors - Club Secretary
Emma McCartney is an Associate at Foot Anstey Solicitors. An expert on contentious construction disputes, including adjudications and litigation. Her role involves taking the client through the dispute resolution procedure and working as part of a team with large scale litigation claims. She also advises on a range of construction contracts regarding various issues, including JCT and NEC, be that payment disputes or defects claims. Emma likes to keep up-to-date with current trends and is continuously building her knowledge and understanding of the construction market. She thoroughly enjoys using her experience and knowledge to give the best possible advice and providing clients with a commercially informed solution.
Outside of the office, Emma is a school Governor at her children’s primary school. When time permits, Emma is a keen runner, with races of various lengths scheduled throughout the year. She also enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and three children.
Jamie Siggers, Campbell Reith
Jamie Siggers is a chartered civil and structural engineer with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry.
Jamie has a unique mix of skills, with experience in every stage and method of procurement. He has expertise in all sectors, on both new-build and refurbishment projects of £1000 to £125 million in value.
Jamie has a keen interest in heritage conservation, he has been involved in a number of challenging projects and recently completed a week-long “Repair of Old Buildings” course at the Society for the Protection of Ancient Building.
He applied his new skills for the renovation of his own mid-19th century, four-storey, mid-terrace Victorian townhouse in Cliftonwood, Bristol.
Jamie is the Chair of the Great Western Branch of the Forum for the Built Environment (for the 2019-2020 period) and he is also Chair of the Constructing Excellence Bristol Club.
After a disastrous few years attempting to play golf, Jamie now keeps his leisure pursuits to the water, chiefly sailing and surfing, when he is not exploring the delights of Cornwall and Suffolk with his wife and daughter.

Gary Fisher is an experienced Managing Director with a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry. A highly skilled individual that can act as a Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor with over 25 years in the industry.
Skilled in Project Management, Driving Value, Real life active Cost Management, Procurement, Feasibility Studies, and Cost Engineering. Strong business development professional with a BSc focused in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying from Loughborough University.
Huw Morgan, VWV
Huw Morgan advises upon construction and engineering contracts of all descriptions. He specialises in the allocation of risk between building owner, contractor and sub-contractor at all stages of the construction process.
With over 20 years experience he is able to bring proven and cost effective legal advice to your project. If a construction dispute develops, Huw can help you resolve it through negotiation or if necessary adjudication, arbitration or litigation.
Huw is a CEDR Accredited Mediator, a member of the Society of Construction Law, the Adjudication Society, the Technology and Construction Court Association, Membership Secretary of the Constructing Excellence Bristol Club.

Paul Weston, Box Twenty
Paul Weston is the Director of Box Twenty and is a Chartered Building Services Engineer with over 20 years experience within the industry.
He is an experienced Project Director and Design Manager with experience on large multi-discipline, phased and complex projects.
His technical, commercial and leadership skills are paramount in the effective delivery and management of all projects from concept through to completion.
Paul has successfully managed key projects in the Residential, Commercial, Education, Public Sector and Leisure sectors.
He can bring this extensive experience from within these sectors to all projects where an alternative approach can be advantageous.
Paul enjoys cycling, golf and going camping in France and within the UK with his family.
Bethany Denner, AECOM
Bethany Denner is a graduate quantity surveyor at AECOM, joining the industry at the start of 2021 after graduating from UWE Bristol with a First Class Honours degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management. She was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to sit on the CEBC committee after winning the Constructing Excellence award in my final year for Teamwork and Collaboration.
She also works closely with G4C (Generation for Change) where Bethany can represent my generation in construction and help to inspire younger people to join the industry.
In her spare time you will find Bethany in the gym, playing my guitars, reading in a coffee shop or hiking a mountain somewhere in the country!
Pablo Perez, University West of England
Pablo Perez is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Project Management. He is a Civil Engineer with a PhD focused on the management of health & safety in construction organisations, particularly SMEs. He has experience in lecturing and research supervision across different programmes and levels in the areas of Construction Management, Technology and Sustainability.
Pablo has been involved in the delivery of several construction projects involving planning and control in the area of offsite construction. He has also been part of an ERDF project engaging with SMEs on the adoption of construction low carbon technologies and promoting energy efficiency in buildings.
