Contemporary development now starts with placemaking and good spatial planning to maximise containment of travel. But going further, we need to think about the benefit that development can offer to the existing communities that sit alongside.
All too often we focused internally on the opportunity for trip containment and provide infrastructure and connectivity that benefits the development. But people’s movement isn’t influenced by an application reline, and planning for places rather than development may deliver transformational change in travel behaviour.
