CE Devon event – Behind the Wire: Modern Methods in Practice

This will be an amazing opportunity to see up close and personal, how the prison expansion programme utilises Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to create the new cell blocks. The expansion at HMP Channings Wood will create an additional 494 prison places and will include the delivery of two new fully-electric, energy-efficient X-shaped T60 houseblocks that support the MoJ’s continued commitment to reducing carbon emissions through efficient
design. Your host, Simon Parsons, has been with the project since the pre-construction phase and will explain how different MMC approaches combine to make efficiencies to the delivery programme including pre-cast concrete and off-site manufactured building service risers. You will then get an opportunity to tour the new blocks (full PPE required) to see first hand how these large buildings are put together.
*Parking is at a premium on site, so we may need to coordinate lift shares, so please confirm you are happy to do so
and from which direction you will be coming.

Parking is limited to 6 spaces – Please could you arrange to car share and we will coordinate the car parking allocations.
Safety: All attendees must bring full PPE – Hard Hat + Chin strap, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Hi-viz Jacket, Hi-viz trousers, safety boots. Please let us know in advance if you do not have any of these items.
Security: During the visit guests are not permitted to take mobile phones on the tour these can be left at reception. Please also note that there is no smoking or vapes permitted and any associated paraphernalia must not be bought to site.
Social Media: Due to the secure nature of this project, no social media activity related to the event is permitted. It is essential that this requirement is strictly followed. Access to a secure site is a privilege, and we must fully respect the client’s regulations.
