Commercial retrofit is an immediate opportunity to enhance building efficiencies and living standards.
It is also ticking time bomb for both private and public sector landlords, with the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) set to tighten further, requiring a minimum EPC requirement of B by 2030, and an interim milestone of EPC C by 2027. If buildings are not futureproofed to these standards, Landlords face the risk of stranded assets and significant financial penalties up to £5,000 or 10% of RV to a maximum of £50,000 (whichever is the greater).
